This new space on the World Wide Web is all yours. ILWU19Casuals.net is for, by and about ourselves as workers in America's best industry, under the Contract of the world's strongest Union!

Any Seattle longshore casual who supports the ILWU and the organized labor movement, agrees with the union's Ten Guiding Principles, and pledges to never cross a picket line, is invited to participate in this online community. A small, self-appointed committee of your fellow workers has put it together, but it isn't just ours, it belongs to all Seattle casuals who want to make use of it.

Anybody who has internet design skills is especially invited to help out with this new website. Please contact us.

 

What's More...

This site's going to contain cool stuff about the ILWU: Union History & Traditions, On-The-Job Safety, Longshore Industry News, and other stuff of interest to casual longshore workers here in the Port of Seattle. The ILWU-PMA Contract Documents and the Safety Code, as well as other helpful resource materials, will be here in a downloadable format. We'll offer downloadable movies and music about the ILWU and the Labor Movement. There'll be space for local news and upcoming events, links to other great labor sites, and a private bulletin board or email list just for us. We'll also have a community page with links to other stuff that Seattle casuals are doing (whether longshore- or labor-related or not).

We think this site is going to be valuable to everybody, but it's a lot of work. It's under construction.... In the meantime, you should check out Local 19's excellent rank-and-file site.
